## FAQ

### Does punctuation count?

Punctuation is not counted as words, but it is included in the character counts.

### Why is my count different from Google Docs?

Tools treat URLs, numbers with separators and hyphenated words slightly differently. The difference is usually just a few words.

### Which number should I use for a tweet or meta description limit?

Platforms usually limit by characters. Check the platform's rules — X (Twitter), for example, counts CJK characters as two.

### Is my text saved?

No. Counting happens in your browser and the text disappears when you close the page.
