Updated: 2026-10-03

The Meta Tag Checker reads a page's <head> and checks the SEO essentials one by one: whether the title and description will be truncated in search results, canonical, accidental noindex, number of H1s, html lang, viewport, hreflang, Open Graph and JSON-LD structured data — and previews how the page appears in Google search results.

## How to use the Meta Tag Checker

1. Enter the URL to check and press "Check".
2. The top shows passed checks, warnings, errors and the HTTP status code.
3. "Search result preview" simulates the title and description in Google.
4. Review each check: green passes, yellow should be improved, red must be fixed.

## FAQ

### It says my title is missing, but the browser tab shows one. Why?

Your site probably sets the title with JavaScript (a client-side React or Vue app). This tool checks the HTML the server returns — what search engines see on first crawl — so consider server-side rendering.

### What does a yellow canonical mean?

The canonical points to a different URL than the one checked. That is fine if it intentionally points to the main version; otherwise search engines may not index this page.

### Can a page have more than one H1?

HTML5 allows it, but for SEO one clear H1 per page is recommended.

### Why can't I check my intranet site?

For security, checkers only connect to public internet addresses, not localhost or private IPs.
