# EXIF Remover

Updated: 2026-10-04

The EXIF Remover first shows what your photos reveal — GPS coordinates, camera model, capture time and editing software — then deletes EXIF, XMP, IPTC and comment metadata. JPEG, PNG and WebP files are cleaned losslessly by removing the metadata segments without re-compressing, so the image data is untouched; phone photos with a rotation flag are turned upright first. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

## How to use the EXIF Remover

1. Drop photos into the dashed box or click to choose files (multiple allowed).
2. Each photo lists what was found, such as GPS location and camera model.
3. Download the cleaned photos (suffixed -clean) or press "Download all".
4. Share the cleaned photos on social media, forums or with strangers.

## FAQ

### Does removing EXIF reduce image quality?

No. For JPEG, PNG and WebP only the metadata segments are deleted; the image data is unchanged bit for bit. Only rotated photos and HEIC files are re-encoded.

### Why are some photos "re-encoded"?

Portrait phone photos often rely on an EXIF rotation flag; deleting it would leave them sideways. The tool rotates them upright first. Turn off "Rotate photos with orientation data" if you prefer lossless output.

### How do I know whether a photo contains GPS data?

Drop it in — the tool lists any GPS coordinates, camera and capture time it finds. "No metadata" means the file was already clean.

### Are my photos uploaded?

No. Reading and removing metadata happens entirely in your browser.
