# CSV to JSON Converter

The CSV to JSON converter auto-detects the delimiter (comma, semicolon or tab), uses the first row as field names and turns each following row into a JSON object — or outputs a 2D array. Numbers and true/false become typed values, while values with leading zeros (such as ZIP codes) stay strings. It follows RFC 4180, including quoted fields with commas and line breaks.

## How to use the CSV to JSON Converter

1. Paste CSV on the left — data copied from Excel or Google Sheets works too (it is tab-separated).
2. Leave the delimiter on "Auto" or choose one.
3. Choose "Array of objects" or "2D array" and whether to convert types.
4. Press "Copy" or "Download" to get the JSON.

## FAQ

### Can I paste straight from Excel?

Yes. Cells copied from Excel are tab-separated and "Auto" detects them.

### Why did my ZIP code lose its leading zero elsewhere?

This tool keeps values with leading zeros as strings. Turn off "Convert types" to keep every value as a string.

### What if a field contains a comma?

Per the CSV standard, wrap it in double quotes, e.g. "Taipei, Taiwan", and it will be parsed correctly.
